Make Your PC Fast Hot Tips How to keep your computer clean

Here are some tips for any Internet user to stay out of any malicious software like viruses and spyware.

1.Computer viruses spread mainly by e-mail these days.
Do not open any strange e-mails from people you don't know. Do not open any attachments from the list bellow before at least scanning them with an antivirus even though they were sent by a friend:
- *.bat (batch files, executes MSDOS scripts)
- *.exe (executable file)
- *.vbs (Visual Basic Scripting)
- *.scr (screen savers)
- *.com (command-line)
- *.js (java scripting)
- *.anything.exe - keep in mind that there are many viruses which rename files like track01.mp3 to track01.mp3.exe. Any version of Windows, by default, hides known file types extensions so it will show only track01.mp3 hiding .exe. Look at the file's icon, it's a good start.

Many viruses take advantage of the trusted contacts in your address book to send them (from your mail address) an infected attachment. This works both ways, so don't open anything suspicious sent by your contacts.
Another good sign is the attachment's size. Viruses usually have just a few KB. If you receive a so called small movie or song which is 20kB or so, something is wrong for sure.

2. Another way computers often get infected is by accessing compromised sites.
Usually this is the result of spam (e-mail, instant messaging). If you open a link in your e-mail that goes to www.hack-blablabla-windows.com/cheap/ for example you will probably end up being a spammer as well. The main idea is to understand what does a 'trusted site' means.
Recently, Google introduced a warning filter if you try to access an untrusted site from their search engine. You can also install in your browser a toolbar (Mcafee Site Advisor for Firefox - for example) that displays a safety ranking of the website. If you are an Internet newbie, this could be pretty useful for you.
Besides e-mail, a new generation of viruses started to infect instant messanging as well. If you are using Yahoo Messenger for example, you could recieve sometime in the future a message (from a trusted contact) like the one in the picture bellow.

Never open these types of links. If you are too courious, ask a confirmation from the contact about the message and the content of the page. Maybe it looks safe by opening a link to a *.jpg (picture), but the webpage also contains a java script that opens and runs a visual basic script (vbs) on your station - this allows writing and full-permition execution of a file, infecting your PC.

3. If your PC is a public area (eg. your office or so), try to lock the session when leaving even for 5 minutes.
This will prevent another user to do anything bad to you computer (like infecting it with a virus without knowing it).
4. Try to keep up with the hot fixes. Update your software as soon as a new version is available.

This si appliable to your operating system, office software, antivirus, etc. From time to time (usually when an exploit is found on the software), a patch is released for the users. Installing it can save you of some trouble later. Search for updates on the vendor's site at least monthly.

5. Don't use the auto-login option provided by Windows if your computer can be accessed by others.
If you share a computer with others, try creating users for that station. (Go to Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Users). Don't leave any account with no password, since it's an invite for any hacker to easily mess it up.
If you are not using any remote administration (like Remote Desktop Connections), disable it by going in the Remote Tab of system's properties (right-click My Computer - Properties).

6. Use an antivirus software.
Don't worry if you don't want to buy one, you can find free versions (for personal usage) as well. (Try AVG or Avira). This will enable the "scanning on demand" of files, which will instantly block any virus before affecting anything your computer. Remember to update it every week at least and to run a full system scan after every update.

7. Use spyware and adware search and removal tools.
These can be found in free versions too. You can use for example AVG Spyware removal and Ad-aware. Another good (and free) program is SpyBot Search&Destroy. Besides searching and destroying any spyware as the name implies, it has a system imunization tool which will make your system ignore in the future all the bad software the application knows (currently about 65000 malicious software types as far as i remeber).

8. Use a firewall. You can find free versions for personal usage of Sygate, Outpost Firewall and Zone Alarm.
I know maybe it looks this is mostly for preventing attacks on your PC, but today's firewall software also keep a constant tracking of all applications that go online. This means that if you ever get infected with a virus for example, it can not connect to the internet unless you allow this. If this looks useless, think that there are many trojans that connect to remote sites and upload any personal data that can find (passowrds, e-mail account, credit card numbers, etc).

How To Increase broadband speed Hot Tips and Tricks

increase broadband speed

1) Goto http://www.testmy.net/ and click on Download Speed Test, and then on Smart Test....(and while conducting this test, don't forget to close all Instant Messagers, and there should be no other web activity, other than the test)
2) Note down the speeds.
Now, lets see, what all changes to be made.....
This tip is designed for increased BROADBAND speed in Windows XP while using standard Network Interface cards (NIC) that are connected to ADSL modems, or when using any directly-connected USB ADSL modem.
To speed up the Internet connection speed we need to configure a special buffer in the computer's memory in order to enable it to better deal with interrupts made from the NIC or the USB modem.
This tip is only recommended if you have 256MB RAM or higher.
Step #1 - Identify the IRQ used by the NIC/USB modem
1. Open the System Information tool by running MSINFO32.EXE from the Run command.
2. Expand System Summary > Hardware Resources > IRQs.
3. Look for the listing made for your NIC (in my case - a Intel® PRO/100+ Management Adapter). Note the IRQ next to the specified line (in my case - IRQ21).
In case of USB modems you will first need to find the right USB device used by your modem. Follow these steps:
1. Open the Device Manager tool by running DEVMGMT.MSC from the Run command (or by right-clicking My Computer > Hardware tab > Device Manager button).
2. Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand it.
3. Right-click the USB Root Hub and select Properties. Note that you might need to do so for all listed USB Root hubs (if there are more than one) in order to find the right one.

4. In the Power tab, look for your USB ADSL modem.
5. In the Resources tab look for the assigned IRQ (in this case - IRQ21).
6. This is the IRQ we're looking for.
Note: IRQs and modem names might vary...
Step #2 - Modify the system.ini file
1. Run SYSEDIT.EXE from the Run command.
2. Expand the system.ini file window.
3. Scroll down almost to the end of the file till you find a line called [386enh].
4. Press Enter to make one blank line, and in that line type IRQX=4096 where X is the designated IRQ number we found in step #1, in my case it's IRQ21.
Note: This line IS CASE SENSITIVE!!!
5. Click on the File menu, then choose Save.
6. Close SYSEDIT and reboot your computer.
Done. Speed improvement will be noticed after reboot

Click OK to create a new 32x32-pixel document: the size of an icon

Now add type, color, or do whatever you'd like to your image.

I like to shrink photos (headshots work great) to 32x32 and simply paste them into my Paint document.

When you're finished, open the File menu and click Save As.

Use the dialog box to choose where you want to save your file, then give it a name followed by ".ico" and click Save.

You just created an icon! Now you can change any shortcut or folder to your own icon!

How To Install Multiple Mouse and Keyboard on One Computer

Sharing one keyboard and mouse on multiple computers makes sense. Many of us have more than 1 computers but don't want too many mess cables around or multiple mouses and keyboards that can confuse us. That's why there are free software such as Input Director and Synergy that allows you to easily share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers with different operating systems, each with its own display, without special hardware.

Well what about installing multiple mouse and keyboard on one computer? I've tried installing 2 mouse on my laptop and it doesn't make a difference because both mouse shares the same cursor. However, when doing presentation or brainstorming on one computer with a few people, having multiple mouse and keyboard really helps. Check out the flash animation below and you'll get the idea.

How To Create Folders And Files With NO! Name Tips and Tricks

This trick will allow you to create files and folders without any name.

Just follow the following steps:
1.Select any file or folder.
2.Right click on it, press rename or simply press F2.
3.Press and hold the alt key. While holding the Alt key, type numbers 0160 from the numpad.

Note: Type the numbers 0160 from the numpad, that is, the numbers present on the right side of the keyboard. Don’t type the numbers which are present on top of the character keys.

4.Press Enter and the nameless file or folder will be created.

Reason: The file or folder that seems nameless is actually named with a single space.

But what if you want to create another nameless file or folder in the same directory ?

For this you will have to rename the file with 2 spaces. Just follow these steps below:

1.Select file, press F2.
2.Hold alt key and type 0160 from the numpad.
3.Release the alt key. Now without doing anything else, again hold alt key and press 0160.
4.Press enter and you will have second nameless file in the same directory.
5.Repeat step 3 to create as many nameless files or folders in the same directory.

(we’ve had a problem with deleting these folders, to do so, start your computer in safe mode and delete it from there.)

Fix DLL Errors How to Remove DLL errors

Want to get rid of those DLL error messages on startup or upon opening applications? Ever had XP DLL errors that you just can’t remove in your system? You might be putting your PC into more serious trouble if you keep ignoring these warnings. You don’t have to be a computer geek to figure things out with the help of these basic guides.

XP DLL errors commonly occur on startup, usually while loading applications. Software loading might be interrupted by a warning message, indicating the missing or corrupted file that is necessary to run the program. These errors occur due to a number of reasons. First, the DLL file might be corrupted due to faulty installation that accidentally replaced the working DLL files with a corrupted one. Second, when one of the applications sharing a common DLL file with other programs is uninstalled, there is a big chance that the shared DLL file might be accidentally uninstalled, too; thus, the remaining applications that need this file might not work properly. Next, XP DLL errors commonly occur on virus and malware attacks. These harmful applications can automatically and independently alter or replace working DLL files, thus causing programs to be faulty and corrupted.

The basic step to get an overview of where the problem might be is to run your PC under Safe Mode. You can select this from boot options that will appear when you press F8 on system startup. If you have successfully entered Safe Mode, you can make a few safe changes by restoring your computer to an earlier time, when the error was still not visible. This feature can be found in Start Menu >> Accessories >> System Tools >> System Restore.

If a DLL error occurs in a specific DLL file only, this can be resolved by reinstalling it. Secure an updated version of the missing DLL file and reinstall it carefully. You can also copy working DLL files from another computer, just make sure that it is compatible with your installed program.

Also, if the error appears after you have improperly uninstalled programs, run a clean reinstallation so that the system can properly coordinate DLL files with other applications requiring it. . Then, uninstall it once again and don’t forget to leave all associated DLL files intact.

If XP DLL errors appear during launching applications, these could be due to faulty installation of programs. It is recommended that you uninstall the program first and run a registry cleaner that will delete all the entries, both the working and the corrupted, from your Windows Registry. You can do this by installing Registry Cleaners that will scan your system for incorrect registry entries and invalid file paths. Then, do a quick and clean reinstallation of the faulty software to remove the error.

Keep your PC free from XP DLL errors by running a regular antivirus scan. You can also install registry cleaner software that can eliminate registry problems such as invalid file paths, incorrect registry entries and missing or corrupted DLL files. This can keep viruses and malwares away so that you can maintain a clean and virus-free PC while doing away with all these annoying DLL errors.

Increase ur RAM and so ur System Speed Top Tips and Tricks

1). Start any application, say Word. Open some large documents.

2). Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to open Windows Task Manager and click Processes tab and sort the list in descending order on Mem Usage. You will notice that WINWORD.EXE will be somewhere at the top, using multiple MBs of memory.

3). Now switch to Word and simply minimize it. (Don't use the Minimize All Windows option of the task bar).

4). Now go back to the Windows Task Manager and see where WINWORD.EXE is listed. Most probably you will not find it at the top. You will typically have to scroll to the bottom of the list to find Word. Now check out the amount of RAM it is using. Surprised? The memory utilization has reduced by a huge amount.

5). Minimize each application that you are currently not working on by clicking on the Minimize button & you can increase the amount of available RAM by a substantial margin. Depending upon the number and type of applications you use together, the difference can be as much as 50 percent of extra RAM. In any multitasking system, minimizing an application means that it won't be utilized by the user right now. Therefore, the OS automatically makes the application use virtual memory & keeps bare minimum amounts of the code in physical RAM.

How To Hide a File in a Image Free Hacking Tips

1. Gather the file you wish to bind, and the image file, and place them in a folder. For the sake of this demonstration, I will be using
C:New Folder

-The image will hereby be referred to in all examples as fluffy.jpg
-The file will hereby be referred to in all examples as New Text Document.txt

2. Add the file/files you will be injecting into the image into a WinRar .rar or .zip. From here on this will be referred to as (secret.rar)

3. Open command prompt by going to Start > Run > cmd

4. In Command Prompt, navigate to the folder where your two files are by typing
cd location [ex: cd C:New Folder]

5. Type [copy /b fluffy.jpg + secret.rar fluffy.jpg] (remove the brackets)

Congrats, as far as anyone viewing is concerned, this file looks like a JPEG, acts like a JPEG, and is a JPEG, yet it now contains your file.
In order to view/extract your file, there are two options that you can take

a) Change the file extension from fluffy.jpg to fluffy.rar, then open and your file is there.
b) Leave the file extension as is, right click, open with WinRar and your file is there.

Computer speed booster

Ever thought about pounding your computer with a hammer hoping it starts moving slightly faster than the current snail’s pace?

Well we would say don’t rush for the hammer just yet; try this collection of smart utility software instead. Here are Top 10 Tools that provide all the help you need to control, tweak and manipulate the looks and functionality of Windows.

Tweak UI : Here is a utility from Microsoft which is termed as the ultimate user interface (UI) tweaker for XP. This utility lets you twist and manipulate, and sometime even override, the way your Windows interface should look. An indispensable tool that offers multiple UI tweaks under a single interface. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Google Desktop 5 : Finally if you think searching files on your computer takes an eternity, Google desktop can come to the rescue. This software does more than just search. Google Desktop indexes all of your data files — including email and instant messages — so you can find it fast. The interface includes multiple search-box configurations and an advanced search option. You can search and find your own files along with your Internet search results.
www.desktop.google.com
DoubleKiller : cluttered hard disk can really slow down your PC, and what adds to the clutter the most is duplicate files that hog space for no reason. This utility, as the name implies, brings you help on this front. It locates duplicate files on your computer and kills one, leaving you with just a single file. http://www.bigbangenterprises.de/en/doublekiller

FreeCommander :
This is an easy-to-use alternative to the standard Windows file manager. Here you can find all the necessary functions to manage your data stock. The best part is that you can put this utility on a USB key — even a floppy disk if you can find one — and take it with you to control files on any PC. www.freecommander.com

Taskbar Shuffle 2.2 :
So you think the Windows taskbar controls you? Here is one utility that will let you turn the tables. It lets you move the buttons for open applications anywhere you want on the taskbar, or group open documents together. And yes, it works with Windows versions all the way back to Windows 95.
www.freewebs.com/nerdcave/taskbarshuffle.htm
Defraggler : Fragmentation of the disk is another big culprit that can slow down your computer. This utility is a handy one that will help you clean up the mess. It not only defragments your hard disk but also claims to defragment individual files. If you’re not sure what needs defragging, it also provides a list of files that need it. And yes, this one is tiny enough to go on a USB drive too.
www.defraggler.com

WinDirStat : If your hard disk seems bloated and you have no idea what exactly is taking up all that much space, here is something you should look at. Short for Windows Directory Statistics, this programme presents your hard drive’s directory in multiple views, some resembling Windows Explorer — files represented by 3D boxes in full colour. One look and you’d soon know what’s taking up space. www.windirstat.info

WinPatrol 2007 : You might not even notice but there are umpteen number of useless programmes that come pre-installed with your Windows, which end up eating plenty of CPU cycles. Put Scotty, the WinPatrol mascot, to work keeping an eye on your system. Scotty will come up with warnings about new programmes that plan to run at start-up and detection of other system changes, trusted or not. It will also delay the start of programmes to improve boot-up speed in any version. http://www.winpatrol.com

Absolute Uninstaller: ou might have uninstalled a particular programme, but unfortunately it still leaves a lot of junk in its wake.

One way to be sure that a programme is all gone is the absolute uninstaller. This replaces the default Add/Remove Programmes control panel in Windows, checks for extra stuff to delete after an uninstall (such as Start menu entries and useless Registry keys), and, best of all, does batch removal of multiple programmes at one time. www.glarysoft.com

Eraser : With more and more sophisticated recovery tools, it can be disastrous to get rid of an old computer without making sure the hard drive is wiped clean. This doesn’t mean just reformatting it, but actually annihilating all data by overwriting disk sectors multiple times. Open-source Eraser that fits a USB drive is a great candidate for the job. www.heidi.ie/eraser

One-click PC shut down

This is really very easy one but very effective one. Enjoy it!

First, create a shortcut on your desktop by right-clicking on the desktop, choosing New, and then choosing Shortcut. The Create Shortcut Wizard appears. In the box asking for the location of the shortcut, type shutdown. After you create the shortcut, double-clicking on it will shut down your PC.

But you can do much more with a shutdown shortcut than merely shut down your PC. You can add any combination of several switches to do extra duty, like this:
shutdown -r -t 01 -c “Rebooting your PC”
Double-clicking on that shortcut will reboot your PC after a one-second delay and display the message “Rebooting your PC.” The shutdown command includes a variety of switches you can use to customize it. Table 1-3 lists all of them and describes their use.

I use this technique to create two shutdown shortcuts on my desktop—one for turning off my PC, and one for rebooting. Here are the ones I use:

shutdown -s -t 03 -c “Bye Bye m8!”
shutdown -r -t 03 -c “I ll be back m8 !”

Switch
What it does

-s
Shuts down the PC.

-l
Logs off the current user.

-t nn
Indicates the duration of delay, in seconds, before performing the action.

-c “messagetext”
Displays a message in the System Shutdown window. A maximum of 127 characters can be used. The message must be enclosed in quotation marks.

-f
Forces any running applications to shut down.

-r
Reboots the PC.

Most Important Web Address Not Allowed By People

I regularly check Google’s robots.txt as well as sitemap.xml pages (YES, Google does have a Google sitemap), with hope of finding new and interesting places to study.
Previously I wrote about Google’s unseen parts which could be found in Google’s robots.txt. Now I’m taking you trough some places found in Google’s sitemap.xml (please note that there are a lot of other pages in that sitemap which I will not write about, so go check them out):

The pages

Basic Google search WITHOUT ADS – This has got to be my nicest find, and I’ll be sure to bookmark it and use it a lot more than the usual Google. Don’t remove the &output=googleabout from the URL, because it will not work otherwise.
An old advertisment page – An old advertisment page where we find the first Google AdWords Select program.
Solutions for Financial Services (metrics) – A page with some really interesting Google stats, dated November 2005.
Jumpstart – If you’re a new advertiser planning to spend at least 50 U.S. dollars a day on AdWords, our Jumpstart specialists will use their extensive knowledge of AdWords to create a customized campaign that you can modify and use as a model for future campaigns.
Advertising Demos and Guides – Some really nice advertising tutorials, demos and guides.
10 Tips for Enterprise Search – Use these tips to find, index, and rank pages on your company websites more effectively as you improve your users’ search experience.
The last Adwords newsletter – dated July 2004, with some really nice sidebar stats.
Guidelines for Third Party Use of Google Brand Features – ALL the Google trademarks for all their services. The page also provides guidelines for the use of Google’s brand features.
The Google Web Directory – A page which is not public anymore, listing some nice infos and facts about the Google Directory.
Google Corporate contact page – Which is not public anymore, for some time now, and where we find some OTHER phone numbers than the ones used these days in their current contact page (go ahead and compare the phones below with the ones that are now in their contact pages):
Google Inc.
1600 Amphitheatre Parkway
Mountain View CA 94043
phone: (650) 623-4000
fax: (650) 618-1499
Security Issues E-mails – You will find e-mails and send reports regarding security problems with any of Google’s services, systems, or networks. Quite useful.
Google dance 2002 and Google Dance 2003 – A funny Dance competition Google organized back then. Lots of never before seen photos of Googler’s and the Plex.
Notification of Account Termination for My-Deja Email Accounts – I actually don’t know what exactly the heck this is (I do have a basic ideea), but I’ll mention it anyway.
Google Jobs@Britney – I think it’s some test page of their spelling suggestion system. Anyway, I think I should report that page in the right spam report place, because it uses keyword stuffing :D
Google Lunar Jobs – Google is interviewing candidates for engineering positions at their lunar hosting and research center, opening late in the spring of 2007. Nice huh ?
Some Lunar jobs test page – A test/saved page which (I think) got left on the server. ANyway, you can re-see the old Google interface.
Add Google buttons to Netscape – Some really old page with info’s on how to put favourite bookmarks in Netscape’s browser (page not public anymore).
PDF Form Request your permission to use Google’s brand features.
Googlers in the Halloween Spirit – Some cool pictures with Googlers from 2000′s Halloween Party.

Google’s Adsense launch – Google, developer of the award-winning Google search engine, today announced a new self-service option for Google AdSense, a program that enables website publishers to serve ads precisely targeted to the specific content of their individual web pages (June 18, 2003).
ASK.com begins using Google’s PPC program – Ask Jeeves and Google sign $100 million three-year deal (July 18, 2002).

1, 2, 3, 4 – What the heck are these PDF documents ?
Improving Google Adwords – The ideas and the engineers that drive online advertising innovation.

Hack Google Tips The Best Hacking Tips

Manipulate the google engine by using it to locate mp3 files online as well as some free software, and more! Using Google, and some finely crafted searches we can find a lot of interesting information.
For Example we can find:
Passwords
Software / MP3′s
etc.
Presented below is just a sample of interesting searches that we can send to google to obtain info. After you get a taste using some of these, try your own crafted searches to find info that you would be interested in.
Try a few of these searches:
intitle:”Index of” passwords modified
allinurl:auth_user_file.txt
“access denied for user” “using password”
“A syntax error has occurred” filetype:ihtml
allinurl: admin mdb
“ORA-00921: unexpected end of SQL command”
inurl:passlist.txt
“Index of /backup”
“Chatologica MetaSearch” “stack tracking:”
And these:
“parent directory ” /appz/ -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
“parent directory ” DVDRip -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
“parent directory “Xvid -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
“parent directory ” Gamez -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
“parent directory ” MP3 -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -opendivx -md5 -md5sums
“parent directory ” Name of Singer or album -xxx -html -htm -php -shtml -
opendivx -md5 -md5sums
Notice that I am only changing the word after the parent directory, change it to what you want and you will get a lot of stuff.
METHOD 2
put this string in google search:
intitle:index.of mp3
You only need add the name of the song/artist/singer. Example: intitle:index.of mp3 jackson
METHOD 3
put this string in google search:
inurl:microsoft filetype:iso
You can change the string to watever you want, ex. microsoft to adobe, iso to
zip etc…
“AutoCreate=TRUE password=*”
This searches the password for “Website Access Analyzer”, a Japanese software that creates webstatistics. For those who can read Japanese, check out the
author’s site at: coara.or.jp/~passy/ [coara.or.jp/~passy/]
“http://*:*@www” domainname
This is a query to get inline passwords from search engines (not just Google),
you must type in the query followed with the the domain name without the .com
or .net
Another way is by just typing
“http://bob:bob@www”
“sets mode: +k”
This search reveals channel keys (passwords) on IRC as revealed from IRC chat
logs.
allinurl: admin mdb
Not all of these pages are administrator’s access databases containing
usernames, passwords and other sensitive information, but many are!
allinurl:auth_user_file.txt
DCForum’s password file. This file gives a list of (crackable) passwords,
usernames and email addresses for DCForum and for DCShop (a shopping cart
program(!!!). Some lists are bigger than others, all are fun, and all belong to
googledorks. =)
intitle:”Index of” config.php
This search brings up sites with “config.php” files. To skip the technical
discussion, this configuration file contains both a username and a password for
an SQL database. Most sites with forums run a PHP message base. This file gives
you the keys to that forum, including FULL ADMIN access to the database.
eggdrop filetype:user user
These are eggdrop config files. Avoiding a full-blown descussion about eggdrops
and IRC bots, suffice it to say that this file contains usernames and passwords
for IRC users.
